Mermaid Under the Sea Scene....

Well Miss A has two days left of school!! Then she advances to the next preschool class!!! She has a celebration pizza party tomorrow so today is her last bento lunch until summer school starts in June. They are studying about the oceans of the world at school and underwater creatures still. She loves mermaids so we did an underwater scene. Chicken strips along the side that look like coral reef /sea wall, a school of goldfish swimming around, there is a string cheese sea floor and as a back drop we have fig newtons. The fruit roll up make up the top of the water waves, the mermaid, a shell and oyster with a cheese pearl! And YES the mermaid has no arms, it wasn't until Miss A and I finished it that we realized there were no arms but we are pretending she is swaying and they are behind her back!!! haha. On the home front we are doing great, Baby Z will be a week old tomorrow!! WOW does time fly!! I think I got a hang of this!! The second child is so much easier!! I drop his blanket on the floor and I just pick it up...yeah...I just pick it up! I don't spray and wash it, wash it and completely change all his clothes!! haha. So much less stressful second time around!! Have a great one everyone!!!

Noah's Bark?

Yesterday at dinner Miss A talked about her lunch for today and she really wanted Noah's Ark. She even saved her dinner bread to use as the ark. Must say pretty clever except the only other medium I had to cut the animals with was cheese. Sooo a little hard to see because there is not much contrast in color, but I give you Noah's Bark...Bark because well..not as grand as the ark and it is bread. And instead of a big wooden boat it is more like a piece of Bark? Get it? Hahahaha! Mac and Cheese as water, Bread as Ark and we have a few random animals in two's of course. Elephants, Giraffes, Snakes, Birds, and some sort of horse, zebra, camel animal, but you get the point! Added some fruit roll up clouds and some tomatoes and blueberries! Must say my adrenaline is kicking in. Forgot what it is like to have a newborn for sure but then throw in a 4 1/2 year old and I must say it does get a little hairy at times!! BUT, we will survive as soon as I stop breastfeeding and can start drinking again...just kidding! (not really....but sort of...)

Big Sis!!!

Well my friends....Thursday afternoon I went in for my check up with my OB/GYN and let's just say it was time to go to the hospital!! Glad I just happen to go in that day or my doc said this baby would have been born at home! THAT would be pretty scary! I barely made it to the hospital in time for my epidural!! No drugs...THAT is even scarier!! haha. So I got to hospital at 4:45pm and Miss A became a big sister at 7:53pm. Just in time to watch the tip off for the Mavericks game, which was the genuine concern of all the docs and nurses! Baby Maxim was born two weeks early on May 19th at 7:53pm, 8 lbs 3 oz and 19 inches long. (Miss A was also two weeks early but only 6 lbs 12 oz....boy glad he came early!) So in honor of the Big Sister who has been such a big help all weekend we have Big Sis Bento Lunch. A sandwich cut in the shape of a cute little girl dress with turkey and cheese, american cheese cut out to say Big Sis, strawberries, and goldfish. Also added a string cheese as requested by Miss A. This is also Miss A's last week of school she has her "advancement program" Thursday evening. So exciting! Been a big weekend and going to be a big week!!!! Many blessings in the Z Household!!

Starfish

Miss A is still studying the vast amazing oceans of the world and specifically the creatures that live in them. BUT, she prefers not to have them as her theme for lunch! haha. Apparently the thought of a sandwich shaped like a lobster, crab or shark really freaks her out! She actually said "no mommy that freaks me out"! hee hee. Crazy girl. Anyway...so a pretty smiling starfish she could handle. So we have a ham and cheese sandwich with a provolone cheese starfish smiling at ya! A few cheddar fish along the side and ham seaweed as she called it. Some oranges because that is what she wanted and atop two fig newtons we have a fruit roll up whale! We did not have a bento lunch yesterday because my mom came up because while under Baby Z watch he had a false alarm. This Baby Z is apparently pretty comfortable or has some inner turmoil going on about whether he wants to come out or not!! So....for now still prego. He has to come out at some point right? If not my doc is going to have to evict him...
Have a great Thursday everyone!

Dolphins.....

Oh Miss A is at that magical age where dolphins, mermaids and unicorns are magical fantastic creatures!! She is studying oceans in school this week and the animals that live there so I actually have a true live sandwich cutter that is dolphins!!! So we have a very very easy bento lunch today. Two dolphin turkey sandwiches with cheese jumping out of a blue/purple water of blueberries and grapes and a cheese-itz sunset!!! hahaha....yeah reaching but you know you see it!!! Still no baby....this thing is never coming out....on vey...Gonna go hoola hoop, run stairs, eat some hot sauce, and run some laps...

Monday Schmonday...

Well folks it is definitely a Monday, still prego but had a fabulous weekend! I actually felt pretty good this weekend so decided to bake...it's been months and I have missed it. Of course I over achieved with 4 dozen cookies...should have started with something small! haha. I really wanted to make cookies for our new Prosper neighbors! So I made some "Home is Where the Heart Is" cookies!! So for lunch today I needed something quick and easy and arranging face out Miss A's food is ALWAYS easy! We had left over mashed potatoes so we have eyeball mash potatoes with hot dog centers, green bean nose, hot dog mouth and blueberry cheeks!! Easy breezy! Have a happy Monday everyone!! (Oh yeah...Friday's Bento I could not post because the blog was down so I just threw that picture up too! It was in honor of the beautiful blue bonnet tile Miss A made me for Mother's Day! ) Let's get out there and make it a great week! Maybe this maybe will decide to show up!!!

Traffic Signs...

Only a couple of weeks left for Miss A at school before summer school starts. Today they are learning about traffic signs. So we have a crescent, ham rolls with a Babybel cheese as a stop sign and a cheese car. Apple slices with caramel, blueberry muffins, and a fruit roll up car and traffic signal. Miss A pointed out that the STOP sign was not a hexagon but hopefully I did not traumatize her too much! haha. Silly girl!

Daddy to the rescue...

I am on the last two weeks of my pregnancy and I will tell you it is getting a little hairy...I am sicker then a dog today so daddy took over Miss A's lunch. I told him anything works but he wanted to carry on and try his hand at a Bento Lunch! They are learning about the Golden Gate Bridge today so Henry being an engineer just new he could handle that one!! I told him make a sandwich and cut the bridge out of cheese. He added some pasta at the bottom for the water and added some blueberries and strawberries. No veggies...but that's okay!! haha. Looks like I have a good back up person now!!! We are the Crazy Z Family that Bento's Together I guess!!!

Born in the USA!!!

So Miss A's school has saved the best for last and they are studying the amazing country we call home...the United States of America! Yesterday they learned about Mt. Rushmore...not to sure I could have carved that out of cheese or bread, but today she learns about the Statue of Liberty!!! Lady Liberty...I pay honor to you through a boiled egg!! haha. Don't think France would approve honestly. You cannot tell but Lady Liberty has a tint of green to her but it did not come off in the picture. Her headpiece and torch are fruit roll up and the second boiled egg is like all those t-shirt sayings you can buy from street vendors and on every corner in New York...I "heart" NY!!!
We have some corn and blueberries with two Nutri Grain Fruit Crisps at the top to squeeze it all in nice and tight!

For the love of turkey...

Hope everyone had a great weekend. For all those mamma's out there I hope it was peaceful and grand! haha. Miss A discovered her love of turkey this weekend. She normally only eats all of her ham in her sandwich and the chicken and turkey are sometimes shredded and pushed around in her lunches. Well this weekend something happened and she has been a turkey fiend!! So today I give you a turkey sandwich! I used a round cookie cutter and a flower cookie cutter for ham and cheese. We just added a few chips some grapes and tomatoes and there you go. Easy breeze for a happy Monday! Have a good one!

Twinkle Twinkle little star....

Miss A picked this one out all by herself during dinner last night. She is a fan of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Not much in that nursery rhyme honestly so we used our leftover pasta and made a little girl out of ham and cheese, music notes to denote it is a tune, and of course up in the sky a cheese star smiling down! We added a few grapes and some chicken and there you have it! Super excited about today, at her school it is muffin with moms, which means this hungry prego mamma gets FOOD!!! So gotta go before all the good muffins are gone!! Happy Friday everyone!!!!

Cinco de Mayo!

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, which sadly I don't really know what it is, I know it is NOT their independence day. I am a coconut what can I say, (white on the inside, brown on the outside), born and raised in North Texas along with my parents and I am half Mexican half Spanish. BUT, I do know in Mexico they have sombrero's!!!! I think...Hee hee...I know...I am sad, but admitting it at least is a step in the right direction right? So we have Mexican Rice with some hot dog peeps with sombreros made out of baby bel and american cheeses. We also have some cheez-its and strawberries! I just noticed we have had rice three days in a row; white, fried, and now Mexican..haha. Now get out there and celebrate at some Mexican restaurant and have a margarita for me!!!

Okay...I wiki'd:

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday held on May 5. It is celebrated nationwide in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla.[2][3][4][5] The date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride,[6] and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War.[7] In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate theMexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.[8][9] Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day,[10] the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.

Rice Pot Face!

We discovered the one and only Chinese food place in our new little town of Prosper. When you have a population under 10,000 apparently that is all you need! They will stay busy with our family that is for sure. So thanks to some leftover Rice Pot Express food last night for dinner I give you Rice Pot Face!!! Rice eyes with black olive pupils. We have a blueberry muffin nose and some teriyaki chicken for a mouth. We added some tomatoes and edamame to fill in the rest of the face. I must say Rice Pot Express you were amazing and some of the best Chinese food I have had in a long time!! See you soon!!! :)

Love of Shoes!

We are officially in our new home! Miss A did not have school Monday so that is why there was no bentosadly. BUT that gave us time to finish up my closet. One of Miss A's favorite things to do is go into my closet and try on my shoes!!! Gotta love her! So in honor of my new shoe rack and my shoes all together in one spot we did a high heel shoe bento box lunch. We had some rice leftover from last night, we used a cookie cutter shoe to cut out the cheese and added some cheese flowers for pizazz (freehanded by Miss A herself). We took two oven roasted turkey slices and sliced them so they make a turkey bouquet and placed them in a heart baking cup to show our love. Then we added some grapes! Yummy!!! Have a great one everyone!
