Flower Power!!

Miss A is always happy with a flower. This little easy lunch was simple and pretty. Babybel cheese in the center, then hot dog slices, cherry tomatoes, and blueberries. The napkins were the leaves. I will admit I ate half of her tomatoes but she ate ALL the rest! I have one more week before I go back to work and the Z family gets back in a routine. Miss A will be staying at camp Grandma and Grandpa on both sides of family so food play and bentos may be even more scarce until September when she goes back to school. :( But perhaps there will be a few surprises in the next few weeks! Have a great weekend everyone!

Dino-Yummo!

So Miss A has some fabulous new friends in our fabulous new neighborhood here in Prosper TX. So we decided to make some dinosaur cupcakes and invite them over to make and decorate their own candy melt dinosaurs! So I made all the cupcakes...not going to lie...it took ALL DAY to make the cupcakes and put the grass on between her schedule and a newborn! Mighty Max does not like to miss a meal so he keeps me on track! He is growing like a weed though...2months and 12lbs!!! Yowza! Anyway, we used the candy melts in assorted colors as you see and melted on low power in the microwave. We put the melted candy in ziploc bags and snipped a small hole in the corner. We took the same cookie cutters I used for sandwiches at lunch and cut templates out of paper. Then we lay wax paper on top of the paper templates and outlined and filled with the melted candy. We stuck in the freezer for a few minutes and then stuck them in the cupcakes! I wish I would have taken more pictures we had some great looking dinos with stripes, polka dots, swirls, and even some with hair! It was super fun and pretty darn tasty I will say! Actually...it was Dino-licious!! hee heee...

Dinosaur Camp this week!!!!

Miss A is in Dinosaur Camp! Very exciting I know! So this week we will be stepping into the Dino Diner! hahaha. Boy I crack myself up. Anyway...For lunch today we had a fabulous display of Dino sandwiches. It was a day in the life of a plant eater and meat eater as Miss A and I role played with the sandwiches. Welcome to her Dinoland plate! We have lays potato chips as rocks, a Stegosaurus sandwich (plant eater), a nice tall plant made of black olives and cucumbers and a T-Rex sandwich with a nice red tomato sun blaring above his head. Yes...I am a dork and always talk like this. Bon appetito el Dinosauro!! I realized I just mixed Italian with Spanish...but you get the idea!

Miss A's perfect flowers...

Tuesday went by super fast for the Z Family...we moved out to Prosper TX (the country...heehee) earlier this year so we could have more of a small town feel and a d
ecent yard. So we are very fortunate that we are putting in a pool! WOO HOO! So early yesterday morning there were more workers in our backyard so we did not have time to make Miss A's lunch in the morning. So when we came home for lunch Miss A requested grill cheese and made her own shapes for lunch. Flowers are ALWAYS her favorite and quick and easy. So we have mandarin oranges shaped like a flower with a blueberry center. A grill cheese sandwich cut with a flower cookie cutter. She wanted her rice shaped as a flower and I told her that was impossible. She said..."no it's not, watch this it will be perfect". Wish you could have seen and heard her when she said it. She is a thumb sucker so she has this little lisp when she speaks and she said perrrrrfect really exaggerated. She also talks with her hands so they are always going 90 miles an hour. She took the flower cookie cutter placed it on her plate and started stuffing rice into the flower mold with her hands! She lifted it up and the rice was left in that perfect little mold. Holy bat balls it worked!!!! After she ate everything on her plate she requested another grill cheese in the shape of her new favorite flower mold. Super awesome! Have a great day everyone!

Flip was not a Flop!

So Miss A is at puppet camp this week but only in the morning. She gets out at 11:30am and is super hungry by that point. So we decided we would go ahead and make her lunch in the morning that way she can eat as soon as we get home. She had a long fun weekend so she slept in a little on Monday so I surprised her with this simple little flip flop turkey sandwich. The cheerios represent the sand and I just threw in some grape tomatoes and blueberries. She loved the flip flop and even asked for a second one! It was a Flip Success! Not a Flop! haha...Get it??? Boy that is funny!!! Okay...maybe only to me. Have a great week everyone!

Noodle Heads....

Last night was easy spaghetti night which we have quite a bit at our house lately. Especially with a newborn. Miss A of course wanted some noodles with butter and some noodles with red sauce! So this time it was my idea to make two little girls....one with blonde curls and one a strawberry blonde with long locks. Haha. Looove that Pepperidge farm bread, so that is their face...it is the ends so it has the chin. We have blueberry eyes and some fruit roll up nose and mouth. Miss A said the red sauce girl looks like the mamma and the butter sauce girl is the little girl. Yes...she is a Scorpio and I am a Libra so we usually agree to disagree quite often. Gotta love her!

Flower garden...

What a great day we had yesterday! Mighty Max was feeling great and Miss A had a great play date with friends, swim lessons, and great ideas for food play this week. Yes, she plans ahead of time! So for dinner this evening we took inspiration from our own flowers outside and we have a little flower garden. Shells and cheese for the ground, hot dog and corn flowers, strawberry rose bushes (so she says), french bread clouds and a yellow tomato sun. The rest of the hot dog I just bordered at the bottom which really threw Miss A off and she really wanted to know what it represented. LOL! I told her it represented not wasting food!!! Ha Ha! Have a great one everybody!

Something fishy...

Well it has been awhile since Miss A and I had an opportunity to play with our food! Mighty Max has been sick and we have had ER visits and lots of doctor visits with our fabulous pediatrician. We are still not in the clear yet but at least yesterday Miss A and I had an opportunity to spend a little time together and make her lunch. That crazy little 4 year old is such a trooper and has been a big help to me and her 7 week old little brother. So hopefully we get a few more opportunities this week. So here we have our fish ham sandwich with cheese face, fins and gills. Miss A used her tulip cheese cutter for the fins. VERY smart! We have a sea floor of mac and cheese and some blueberry seaweed. Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Hope to be back soon...

Fourth of July!!

Well we had a great weekend with my hubby's sister and her family. They came down for the weekend from Louisiana. Miss A really wanted to make American Flag cookies this weekend but Henry's sister does not celebrate holidays so out of respect for her we waited until they left on the fourth to make them! So we had a full day of celebration on the actual Fourth of July with fireworks and cookies! Since I knew we were probably going to bake the cookies so late I decided to try one of those store bought mixes you just add water and egg and roll out the
cookie dough. Also instead of making my own icing Miss A and I bought the decorator icing at the grocery store. First for everything! Must say the cut out cookies do not hold their shape....they all became these marshmallow melted salvador dali versions of the actual cookie cutter shape. Oh well...once we decorate them you won't be able to tell!! So I thought...even Miss A said the icing was harder to use and did not dry so she could not do any of her layer techniques! haha. Goofy girl. BUT it was the spending time together and making cookies as a family that was really the best part. Last night after we got home from watching fireworks around 10:30pm Miss A was alseep in Henry's arms and she gave me a sleepy kiss and hug and said "I had fun making cookies with you today mommy".....aaaahhhh melts my heart. They don't have to be perfect...just quality time. The Captain America cookie was Henry's of course, I did a few hearts and American Flags, and Miss A had all sorts of creations with our initials, stars, flags, swirls...she is a creative genius!! I do hope everyone had a safe and fun Fourth of July. Miss A is out of school again for two weeks while she does swim lessons!!! While I am on maternity leave I am trying to take advantage of as many things as possible!! So no bento's this week....just more food play. Have a great week everybody!!

Break-FAST

Well these last two days Miss A has been enjoying some play dates and fun activities with friends so the only meal we have been making is BREAKFAST!
Miss A did these masterpieces all by her lonesome...

OATIM
So like her baby brother who's name is Maxim she named this oatmeal face...Oatim...hee hee. Super easy obviously; oatmeal, bowl, blueberries and a raspberry! REALLY does not get any easier than that!

WAFFLE HOUSE
Miss A fashioned this waffle house out of blueberry waffles and added raspberry flowers and a grape tree!!! She is loving the grape trees...I should have done another tortilla sun! hee hee...just kidding...this is a joke still from our sailing scene breakfast the other morning.

Anywayyyyyy...VERY simple and very easy this week. Preparing for the Fourth of July and my sister-in-law and her family coming in for the holiday. We may just need to make cookies...hhhhmmm we will see!

Happy Fourth of July everyone. Be safe and have fun!!!
