The Letter Q...

Today was show and tell for the letter Q for Miss A. So with some help from some fabo friends on facebook we got some ideas and decided to do a house made out of Q-tips and a Queen Bee! I showed Alexa how to stack the q-tips and she cut out a blue door, drew a flower, sun and a bee with a crown to go with the house! Of course we realized we were out of craft glue so I had to use my hot glue gun. My horrible luck, poor Alexa touched the glue and it burned her thumb, poor baby. She almost didn't want to take the house this morning, just a quarter. BUT....this morning I told her we could do a matching queen bee lunch and she had a change of heart and decided to take her Qtip art house and queen bee masterpiece! Yeah!!! For her lunch we did a Queen Bee Quesadilla!! Another Q....Quesadilla! Green beans with flower fruit roll ups, fig newtons, pretzels, and some tomatoes. TGIF!!!! This weekend is Hungry Henry's bday!! Aka, my hubby and Alexa's daddy. So we are planning a special cake...stay tuned!

Shapes Caterpillar!!!

It's Friday!!!
Thought I would make a shapes caterpillar with green beans for leaves...and fruit roll up antennas!! Miss A wanted cantaloupe and cheese which makes for a very blah color palette soooo to add some color I tried a new technique from a book called Creative Carving of Fruit and Vegetables by Kikky Sihota. It is a tomato rose garnish!!! Yeah I know a garnish for a 4 year old...but really...is it that surprising from a crazy person like me??? Neh!!! Have a great Friday!!

Playing with my food....

My daughter was my inspiration but deep inside I am still a child that likes to play with my food! We moved my daughter to a new preschool and she had to start taking her lunch. I work full time am pregnant now and run around like a chicken with my head cut off but that is my life and I wouldn't have it any other way!! Full of passion and 100% all the time. I was simply terrified of having to pack lunch every day for her. Sooo I started googling and ran into this amazing idea of Bento Boxes!! Kawaii Bento which Kawaii means "cute" in Japanese. Not only is it a way of packing healthy lunches into a tight little cute box, but the food is so darn cute!! Food with faces!!! Soooo I started my journey like any other....very obsessive compulsive and researched all sorts of tools and books and websites to help create these amazing lunches. My daughter loved them immediately! She started spouting out her own ideas and the types of foods she wanted to have in her lunch. This turned a fear into a daughter and mommy time! My first Bento Box Americanized was all hearts to assure she knew on her first day of school I love her and am always thinking of her. I used a cookie cutter to cut the double heart sandwich and a smaller cookie cutter for the fig newtons and cantaloupe. A few grapes and some red and yellow cherry tomatoes!!
